Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Bui Dinh Long highly appreciated EuroCham's initiative to organize GEFE 2022. In its sustainable development strategy, Nghe An always aims for a green economy, including attracting green and environment friendly investment projects.
Currently, Nghe An has 113 FDI projects from 14 countries/territories, with a total registered investment capital of more than $2.535 billion. European investors have the advantage of technology, actively contributing to technology transfer, creating several new industries and new products with high technology content and generating more new jobs. However, in Nghe An, there are only 2 projects of EU investors with a total investment of more than $17 million.
Nghe An hoped to promote to attract investment from the EU and asked EuroCham to support and introduce European investors to do research and explore opportunities for investment cooperation in the locality.
Eurocham President Alain Cany was pleased to welcome the delegation of Nghe An province to attend GEFE 2022 and work with EuroCham. EU is a potential market, but with high requirements, thus Nghe An needs to prepare carefully if it wants to enter this market. Agriculture, tourism and electronics are areas where Nghe An has strengths and the EU has demand.
Mr. Alain Cany suggested that Nghe An pays attention to the development of transport, energy infrastructure, human resource training... The EU is expected to organize a delegation of executives and businesses to work and make investment survey in Nghe An province in March or April 2023.
Speaking at the meeting, Acting Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Nhu Hieu said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs always supports and accompanies localities, including Nghe An, in implementing external economic activities. Mr. Hieu suggested that each party choose a contact point to connect and exchange information and make written proposals. The Department of Foreign Affairs is committed to supporting EuroCham and Nghe An province to implement cooperation activities.
