(Baonghean.vn) - In the afternoon of May 10th, the proposal of organizing a sunflower festival has been approved and the event is going to take place in Nghia Dan district.
Mr. Le Minh Thong - Member of Provincial Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee chaired the meeting. There was also the participation of representatives from provincial departments, leaders of Nghe An People’s Committee, leaders of TH Group and TH True Milk JSC; representatives of Vinh branch of Vietravel JSC.

Since 2010, TH True Milk JSC has successfully grown sunflowers to be used as supplemental food for cows. The sunflower field has attracted thousands of visitors from all over the country.
The expanding effect of the field has helped to gain benefits to a numerous of local services; however, they are often spontaneous, unplanned, which led to some social issues like traffic jams, low security, etc.
Understanding that situation, in order to establish an attracting destination with new, unique and less seasonal tourism services, People’s Committee of Nghe An has assigned Department of Culture-Sport and Tourism to create a proposal regarding the establishment of sunflower festival.
During the meeting, representatives has discussed and suggested about advantages and drawbacks to implement the proposal, such as: the growth characteristics of sunflower, schedule, facility, tourism services, the stability of the event, and so on.
Appreciated the comments from representatives, Mr. Le Minh Thong – Member of People Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee concluded that the sunflower festival is feasible and is expected to take place in December annually.
