(Baonghean.vn) - On 28th April morning, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) working team headed by Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat met with Departments of Transport (DoT) of Nghe An and Ha Tinh. The meeting saw the attendance of Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien – Deputy Chairman of People’s Committee of Nghe An and leaders of DoT of the two provinces.

At the meeting, leaders of Provincial People’s Committee and DoT submitted 14 proposals and recommendations to leaders of MoT, concerning investing and financing for the construction of harbor infrastructure in Nghe An, dredging 3 shoals of Lam River, building 3 water fronts, installing waterway traffic signs, upgrading arches on the rivers,etc. in order to ensure effective waterway exploitation and transportation, thereby boosting trade and economic – social development among regions.
In addition, other necessary tasks such as upgrading current landing areas and terminals of Vinh Airport to meet the increasing demand of air travel were also proposed to Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat. Those were essential conditions for Vinh International Airport to open new international routes, including Vinh-Bangkok route that would be launched on 8th June 2016.

In conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat highly appreciated the outcomes of provincial management towards local inland waterways operation so far; and tendered Nghe An DoT to enhance the propaganda of Law on Inland Waterways Traffic among local people. Besides, local competent agencies would inspect, detect and penalize appropriately cases of intentional violation in circulating means of waterways transport in order to minimize losses from accidents.

Especially, the sector’s competent authorities must speed up administrative reform since this was a crucial factor for the goal of increasing merchandise volume circulated via seaway and waterways transport. Regarding the proposals and recommendations of Nghe An in particular, especially one of building anti-drifting pillars for Yen Xuan bridge, Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat assigned affiliated departments of MoT to examine and review for finalizing reasonable and timely solutions, thereby facilitating economic and social development of Nghe An province.
