The shrimp farming area of Nghe An includes: 400 ha in Hoang Mai town, 360 ha in Quynh Luu, 87 ha in Dien Chau, 70 ha in Nghe Loc, 132 ha in Vinh city and 3 ha in Cua Lo.

According to farmers’ evaluation, shrimps from farming regions which were bred before 30th March grew more slowly than those in past years due to complicatedly and unexpectedly developing weather: at the beginning of the crop the long-lasting low temperature caused the shrimps to poorly feed; several ponds even produced only 250 – 3000 individuals/kg after 50 days of culture. On the contrary, shrimps farmed from the end of March achieved normal pace of growing, thanks to the warm weather.

Currently, the whole province obtained a total yield of more than 290 tons, including 100 tons in Hoang Mai town, 100 tons in Quynh Luu, 42 tons in Dien Chau, 15 tons in Nghi Loc and 31 tons in Vinh city.
